Nature of Business
The Institute of Banking & Finance (IBF) was established in November 1974 to upgrade expertise in the financial industry in Singapore. As financial services developed over the years, IBF expanded its role to include the administration of local and overseas examinations. Among the various initiatives on manpower development, training quality assurance and industry best practices, IBF now administers part of the Capital Markets and Financial Advisory Services (CMFAS) examination series on behalf of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). IBF also administers the Client Advisor Competency Standards (CACS)
assessment and the Corporate Banking Common Examination. IBF serves as the national accreditation and certification agency for financial competency under the Financial Industry Competency Standards (FICS) framework.
